Where we're going

Our Mission

To lead people into a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

Our goal is to equip each person with a clear pathway to connect with God and grow in their faith.

Mission Foundation

Our mission is based on the commands of Jesus as found in Matthew 22:36-40 and Matthew 28:18-20

Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart…soul…and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” (Matthew 22:36-40)

He said to them, “Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”. (Matthew 28:18-20)

Our Story

History

In 2011, The Gathering Place began with a desire to reach people far from God. From the pastor’s living room, the church quickly moved to Moody High School in hopes that growth would soon follow. That season of faith opened up the door to what is now a life-giving and spirit-filled church that continues to follow the call of God.

From the beginning, the name “The Gathering Place” was chosen because the vision was to establish a group of people who would be united by a common purpose, gather in a specific place to be encouraged, equipped for ministry, and then deployed to change the world. Even in seeing all of these incredible things occur, there seemed to be something missing. The leadership began to pray for more.

In January 2019, The Gathering Place Church saw a move of God’s presence that was accompanied by miracles, signs, and wonders. Many have been led to God through salvation, healing, deliverance, powerful impartation, and filling of the Spirit.

As we take steps into the “more” of God, we want to take you with us on this journey. We believe every single person can be used by God in a powerful way. Our story is one of passion to connect you with a life-giving community, help you realize your full potential, and equip you to make an eternal impact. What do you want your story to be?

Our Pastor

As the founding pastor of The Gathering Place Church, Matt Scott is no stranger to church life. He grew up being the son of a United Methodist Pastor. He might even tell you he was born on the 1st pew. As most “preacher’s kids” go, the desire to go into ministry himself was not on his radar. He began his career in medical sales before ever saying yes to the call of God on his life. As he furthered in his career choice, the desire to lead people to the Lord in a  larger capacity was unmistakable. What started out as youth ministry led to so much more. In 2011, Matt and his wife Stevi planted The Gathering Place church in their living room. Over the years, TGP has seen God do incredible things from thousands of salvations to the miracles, signs, and wonders spoken of in Acts.

Pastor Matt believes that we are not just saved from something, but to something. In his everyday lifestyle and teaching alike, you can find a passion to raise up a church that would reach people far from God, and to equip them for their very own call upon their lives. He is most commonly known for his energetic teaching style that leads you to the full gospel of Jesus Christ.

Matt Scott, his wife Stevi, and their five children live on mission together as they live out the very purpose in which they teach and model. They can’t wait to meet you!
